Hello List Serv,
I am working with an infant with femoral facial syndrome. Her presentation is as follows: Left: has only tibia Right: has only tib/fib. She is missing both femurs.
She is approaching 1 year old and is beginning to show motivation to pull to stand and pull her legs under and onto her feet in the bear stance position.
I don't have x-rays yet, but these are coming.
Her PT and I are working together to find a solution for her...at this point I am looking to a possible SMO/AFO combo to provide stability but also allow motion for floor play.
Has anyone else treated a patient with femoral facial syndrome or similar presentation and if so, what did you provide and at what age was this provided?
Thanks in advance for the responses,
Amira Mouad, CPO
