Hello Listmembers,
During a trans-femoral socket fitting, my patient mentioned that he had a
stent previously installed in an artery in the femoral triangle area. I
understand that the stent is a flexible mesh that holds the artery open but
I wonder if shear or direct forces might cause trauma to the artery. I
haven't found discussion of this in OPIE Search. It is likely that sockets
have been fit to stumps with stents, but I'm curious as to if any of you
were aware of an existing stent in a stump and if any problems resulted from
use of a prothesis.
Thanks,
Randy McFarland, CPO
