I recently saw a gentleman for new supplies (liner, sleeve, socks). His prosthesis was made in a different city by another company. He is blind but does very well as a left BKA. He told me that he was having issues with loosing suction (actually just a sleeve placement problem). He stated that his previous prosthetist put something in his socket and blew it up to hold it on better. And, at the time they told him his insurance would not pay for it. Unfortunately, since he is blind, he had no other information than that. I have searched google for an inflatable socket interface and not really come up with anything that can just be put in a socket. He now wants this. I assumed they hooked a vacuum pump up to a valve and sucked the air out (prosthesis has a cover and I did not take it apart), but he says that they blew air in. any insight would be appreciated.
