Here are the responses I received for my query about socks for wearers of PTB's/CROWS
I would suggest you look for a sock that has merino wool in it. Amazing properties for wicking.
we recently used the equivalent of a syme amputee sheath underneath a crow boot for a patient with a charcot foot and a partial foot amputation.
It worked well for him....
Smart Socks by KnitRite. The grey AFO socks are anti-microbial and are efficient wicking moisture away from skin.

I'm not aware of anything specific for this purpose, but my son plays hockey and wears socks that come to about mid-thigh. They are Nike or Adidas and have wicking properties. For the purpose of hockey, they wick the moisture from the skates and shin/knee pads. Seems something like that would work for an AFO also. Their length could allow the patient to roll the sock over the proximal border of the AFO which may keep it from migrating distally.

The ones I bought for my son have no heel or toe seem. I actually found them at TJ Maxx recently. I remember they were Nike, but you'd have to google and research. If you've got a neuropathic foot, you'll want to find the ones without seems, like a high diabetic sock. My link above & photo is not exactly what I'm referring to, but just gives you a visual of something close.

I use the same socks that come with an aircast walking boot - the thick tube sock that is a cotton blend with smooth outside and terry cloth like on the inside. I ordered a case from Airway Surgical. The cotton blend seems to wick well and the terry interior is soft and cushiony but I think it also helps to dissipate shearing forces. The only problem is they are one size fits all.

Knitrite has a neuropathic boot sock made out of x static silver. It was designed just for this application. Silver is antimicrobial , anti fungal , and thermal dynamic. It is corespun fiber and wicks moisture to the atmosphere. It helps control odor and protects the skin. Also comes in a wide as most of the feet we deal with are wide and large. Hope this helps.

Crow orthoses and AFO's tend to retain the moisture almost macerating the skin.
As a rule, we perforate crow orthoses to keep the foot dry. I have the patient change there sock twice a day. Socks, I have patient wear the knit rite AFO or diabetic with extra plantar padding and cool max material for optimum wicking.

Try comfort products. They make an AFO sock with silver. The silver threads act as an anti-microbial and the socks are soft and don't bind on the ankle or calf to restrict blood flow.

Have you considered trying Trulife's Dynasocks? They are made of COOLMAX, which wicks moisture away from the skin, keeping it cool and dry.
