Colleagues,

I have been working with a 6 yo female with spina bifida for several years. She ambulates (and dances) independently with b/l solid AFOs and does much better than her diagnosis level would indicate. However, parents are increasingly concerned about issues in the feet that are becoming harder to control orthoticly every year. They have received two differing orthopedic opinions in the state of NC but have concerns about the plan(s) of care that were outlined. They are willing to travel within the US if it means improving her care and functional outcome.

This patient's parents are well educated and in the medical field. They have the means and motivation to seek out a well respected opinion. They are looking for a pediatric orthopedist or preferably a rounded medical team with a good reputation in Spina Bifida presentations and interventions.

If you know of such a clinic you would recommend please forward any information you might have on the clinic to me and I will pass it on to the patient.

Sincerely,

Jacob Townsend, CPO
