Hello Everyone,
For 11 years I have been operating a not-for-profit organization in the Dominican Republic. I have teamed up with a local clinic in Santo Domingo, together we have been able to provide over 600 limbs for free to the amputees in the Dominican Republic.
I am in need of a C-leg charger. I do not have any extra chargers here at my office that I can give away at this time.
The patient is currently here in the USA, staying in my home for a few weeks to get a new prosthetic leg. He is a great 'kid' (20 years old). He was in an accident at age 16 and ended up losing his right leg above the knee. I saw him about 5 months post-amputation and was able to make him a prosthetic leg at that time in Santo Domingo. I made him a new leg 2 years ago (at age 18) and was able to provide him with a C-leg that was donated to me from the Barr Foundation. He LOVES the knee, it is working great, BUT the cable on the charger was damaged, and now it won't charge at all.
I am hoping to find someone who has one laying around the office or at home that they can part with. I am happy to pay for the shipping charges to ship it to my office in Indiana.
This patient would be so grateful to get this charger so that he can put the C-leg back on the socket and start using it again.
I am hoping to be able to find one for free, he cannot afford to pay for a new charger (the exchange rate from their currency to dollars is really bad) and his family struggles just to get by. I was able to use some frequent flyer miles to get him an airline ticket to come here to the USA, and also able to get the US Embassy to grant him a visa to come here and get a new prosthetic leg.
Thanks in advance for anyone who might be able to donate a charger for this great kid.
