Hello,I need your thoughts on this. We have a 44 yo very active very short TT amputee. He is around 250-70 lbs. Tibial length is just below tubercule with no fibula Cause is trauma as a youth. He has been successful with all types of socket designs through his years. Pins, vacuums of both types, extended trim lines, alignments, etc. The problem:His current employment requires extensive walking throughout each day. He is developing a number of chronic recurring issues; namely, increased genu valgus with hyper extension and popliteal cysts with scar tissue buildup.
We have cautioned him in the past for the need of joints and corset for protection. He has been reluctant because of negating vacuum.I believe I have read/seen of manufactured KOs, (Bledsoe, Don Joy, Medi, Ossur, the usual list) that are capable of being combined with prostheses; either in a permanent state ( integrated) or removable.
Anyone have any thoughts or direction?
Thank you
Bill Schumann, CPO
