Beginning October 1, UHC will no longer cover vacuum pumps, L5781 or L5782,

*The use of vacuum pumps for residual limb volume management and moisture
evacuation systems among amputees is unproven and not medically necessary
due to insufficient clinical evidence of safety and/or efficacy in
published peer reviewed medical literature.*
Tom Fise at AOPA and Peter Thomas at NAAOP were made aware this morning
along with leaders at the Amputee Coalition.
Does anyone reading this, know who the medical director and/or executives
are with UHC that wrote this and would have the power to change this policy?
