I know that we use 896.2 for traumatic bilateral transtibial patients.
I know that we use V49.75 for non traumatic (usually avascular) unilateral
transtibial patients and V49.76 for avascular transfemoral patients
I am trying to find out if there is a specific diagnosis code for
avascular, non-traumatic bilateral transtibial amputation. bilateral
transfemoral amputation and bilateral transtibial/transfemoral amputation.
Thanks,
Gregory M. Straub, CPO.
THE DEFINITIVE ANSWER I AM SATISFIED WITH IS:
Gregory,
My understanding is to use V49.70 for anything that does not have a
specific code. It would also be used for a B/L AK or an AK/BK.

Are we all in agreement with this?
