I have a complex TF that I have found a fitting solution for, but need input
as to how I can get the suspension liner I need.
This patient is a very short transfemoral (7 length, 4 femur) and I have
successfully obtained full suction using the Ossur X-5 liner. There is a
recurrent problem where he loses suction toward the end of the day and it
will separate from him as he loses suction.
My solution is the addition of a suction lock (Coyote style with lever) and
using it with a liner with the X-5 rings, (not enough socket length for
summit lock). He does utilize elevated vacuum which helps. This man is young
and very active with taking care of his farm. I have looked into combining
suspensions myself but wanted to see if anyone else might have a suggestion.
Is there any manufacturer that will attach a distal attachment for a pin
system to an X-5 liner or in other words is there available out there a
distal dish or adaptor that can accommodate a pin system that can be
retro-fit or bonded to a cushion style X-5 liner? I have tried the opposite
by adding the ESP Omni ring to a locking liner but the ring is not wide
enough nor the rings as tall as the X-5 and it will lose suction sooner.
I hope someone has tried this before with success.
