Hello Everyone,
TODAY I finally got an answer during a conference call with the Medical
Directors and the Provider Outreach director about what an acceptable
Delivery Ticket must have on it.
I thought that what I was providing and having the patients sign was in
compliance with the new policies. I was very close, BUT they told me what
else I should do and what I should include to make it totally acceptable and
compliant.
I stongly STONGLY encourage EVERYONE to reach out, call your contracted
administrators, and GET THIS INSTRUCTION for your own. They understand
that the February update and release is not very clear, and in Region B
(they do pre-payment audit requests in this region) they have denied MANY of
these audits. Now there are MANY who are now filing the re-determinations,
but they still do NOT KNOW what else they must do or change to make these
claims pass the redeterminations.
IF you are in a region where it might be years before these claims are
audited (RAC audits), you will NOT be able to fix or correct these claims
and will end up paying ALL of these back.
You should all call and speak with someone, and document this call, and
exactly what is said.
Fortunately I can get my delivery tickets all in order, and KNOW that what I
am doing will pass the audits (well, as much as anyone can KNOW how these
contracted administrators are going to do anything).
But I do appreciate that they DID set up a conference call with me, and were
very pleasant about discussing what I needed to change. I can easily do
this, once I now KNOW what they are REALLY looking for on the delivery
tickets.
Good luck everyone,
Jim DeWees, CP

Subject: [OANDP-L] Inputting Serial Numbers for Prosthetic Components
I was wondering what others processes are for inputting Serial Numbers for
prosthetic components.
The problem we are running in to, is if our purchaser puts it in Opie
Purchasing/OPIE Lite, it does not communicate with the patient's chart.
If the technician wanted to put them in for the practitioner when they
completing the Quality Safety Checklist, there is no way to add the Serial
Number and what component it goes to. The techs would then have to find the
practitioner's component form, find the component and input the serial
number. Which then takes even more time out the techs day when we have all
prosthetics made in a central fabrication for the company. This could really
damper production/turnaround times.
We are trying to:
A) come up with a stream lined process of this
B) wondering if we are missing something?
We are currently having technicians type a note in the Fab Tracking work
order of all the components for the practitioner to enter before the patient
comes in for delivery to make sure they are ready to be added to the receipt
upon delivery.
With Medicare requiring those on the Delivery receipt and ensuring they are
on there, we want to make it as user friendly as possible. Any ideas other
ways anyone has come up with would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You,
