Hello List,

I have been having nothing but trouble trying to get MPC knees authorized from UHC. We submit all clinicals, MD notes, letter written by MD, additional letter narrating the patient in greater detail, Ampro eval’s, therapist notes and still fight to get auth. Anything and everything they say, they do to deny auth. The latest is that MPC knees are intended for K-4 ambulators! Now, work with primarily young, active individuals (all K3 and K4) folks.

Can anyone tell me anything else to add to the auth packets that have worked for them? Has anyone heard of success when contacting their states insurance commissioners office? Anyone have luck getting attorneys involved? How about collectively working with local practices to attack the issue through legislation or through a collective frontal approach to UHC directly? I am aware that, yes, UHC could kick you off the panel and then focus their panel on those who didn’t work together on this issue, but I have had it and want to find a solution for my next MPC auth application.

Thoughts? Thanks in advance.
