AOPA is pleased to announce the much expanded 2015-2016 research grant Request for Proposals covering several different areas with funding ranging from up to $15,000, up to $60,000, plus two comparative effectiveness studies that we expect will warrant substantially higher funding.
There are nine subject areas suggested for the Small Pilot Grant program and a maximum of four studies will be funded for up to $15,000 each. As in past years, recommendations as to which submissions merit funding by AOPA will be developed by the Center for O&P Learning and Outcomes/Evidence-Based Practice (COPL).
The two comparative effectiveness studies topic areas are OTS versus Custom Fit and Custom Made AFOs and Effectiveness of Prosthetic Feet, Lower Function. These grants will be funded in part by AOPA with a $60,000 contribution to each project and the funding balance by partners who will have interest in these studies being carried out. There will likely be a third RFP issued in the next few weeks related to cranial molding.
The Systematic Literature Review RFPs cover the areas of Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis--Effectiveness of Orthotic Treatment (Bracing); Alternate Assessment Tools or Category Systems-Candidacy for Prosthetic Technology; Cost Efficacy for Transtibial Interventions; and Diabetic Population--Evaluating Transtibial Amputations vs. Partial Foot Amputations. These 4 potential Systematic Literature Review grants will be funded by AOPA up to $60,000 each.
We encourage you to forward this email to any researchers or colleagues you feel may have interest in submitting proposals in response to these RFPs.
Additional information will be discussed at the 2015 Policy Forum to be held March 22-25 in Washington, DC. You can also learn more in the April O&P Almanac at <URL Redacted>
There are two submission deadlines - April 1, 2015 for the comparative effectiveness and literature search RFPs and April 30, 2015 for the small pilot grant projects.
This link will take you to the AOPA website and the individual RFPs.
