Hello All,I have seen a young gentleman with congenital absent lower trapezius and serratus anterior. As a consequence he cannot upwardy rotate his scapular which obvisouly restricts his ability to flex his shoulder.
Without the musculature there, his scapular is quite pronounced. With manual stabilization of his scapular he has more strength in shoulder flexion---allowing him to hold things above his head which he is needing to do for work.
Just to be clear, the issue is not shoulder retraction....it is preventing downward angular rotation of the scapular in a way that still allows his arms and hands free.
Anyone ever see this before or have any suggestions?
Many thanks
