We have had a lot of conflicting situations on whether or not NP's and PA's can write prescriptions for prostheses when billing Medicare. We have learned with new dual enrollment plans (Medicare & Medicaid) with several plans like Anthem, they do not accept their Rx's. Specifically referencing Region C with Medicare, their manual states NP's and PA's can write the Rx's if they have their own NPI and bill Medicare. However, in most cases they bill under their supervising physician. Does anyone any information or reference as to what the proper protocol is? Has anyone ran into this?
Thanks in advance for your help!
