Hello List,
I received a call from a local surgeon asking for advice regarding a patient about to undergo bilateral amputations of both upper and lower extremities. All involved are looking for advice on prosthetic types, suspension style, and rehabilitation techniques in order to help the patient achieve independence. I have discussed this with my local colleagues and would like to hear stories with respect to successes and failures.
I have never encountered this in my practice and would love to hear from those of you who have successfully managed this rare population.
Regards,
John Boldt, C.P.O.
