Hello List,
I have a new 6’2” 280lb. trans-tibial patient, with a medium length limb and with approx 5cm of distal redundant tissue. He has been wearing pin suspension with a laminated composite integrated knee brace / thigh corset, possibly for stability and extra suspension. ( He is new to my office, but experienced amputee). We are exploring sleeve suspension and possible elevated vacuum as this vastly improves the connectedness of his heavy prosthesis and provides enough stability to do away with the knee brace. However, this man kneels a lot for work and sleeve durability will be an issue. Unfortunately the Seal-In system is out because he has some unusual limb contours and volume fluctuations which may challenge this system. Question: does anyone have a successful way to either protect the suspension sleeve, have experience with OttoBock’s “double-layer” inner seal liner (not sure the name at the moment), or do an inner/out socket system a la OttoBock / TEC double wall socket system? Is there anything brilliant and new that I’ve missed?
Many thanks,

Markus Saufferer, B.Sc.(Kin), C.P.(c)
