I have a 66 year old patient that is interested in a stance control KAFO. I am unfamiliar doing this style of brace for Medicare and would like some suggestions regarding both proper documentation and if anyone has received any denials. I work very closely with this physician and he indicated he would help in anyway possible. This individual has quadriceps weakness along with a total knee. She has 2/5 knee extensors and 4/5 knee flexors. Her hip and ankle is within normal limits. At this time she is walking with only a cane but her knee has buckled several times which has resulted in several falls.
I would also like to add which stance control you had the most success with. I am currently looking at the SPL 2 from Fillauer as a possible option. I will post all suggestions. Thank you for your time and assistance.
