Case Study:
72 yo female transfemoral amputee, 5'5 @145 lbs, nonsmoker, works as
companion/caregiver to an elderly gent, cooking and laundry, chauffer.
Active ambulator with a stance control knee and a mild ES foot, lanyard
suspension. Has been wearing current prosthesis for 3 years.
Recent bout of cancer with successful treatment and the aging process has
left her without the strength she had 3 years ago. She complains of the
weight of her prosthesis. (6 lbs) Suspension is good and verified with
minimal pistoning from loose (aged) tissue of her stump. Declines a waist
belt for added suspension.
Her request is for lighter weight endo components for less fatigue and more
endurance in her work and ADL's.
My request is for information from individuals with actual experience
billing out said endo lightweight components to MCR in a similar case.
Successful and other.
Thanks.
