My original post was:
I have been unable to locate a knee rated for 450Lb.
The replies I received included:
1. Exo knees from OttoBock?
2. Ti-Med KN-500.
Rated 500 lbs. Hope this helps

4. I spoke with Dave Littig about the new knee from ST&G. It's the VGK.
The interesting element from our discussion is that there are no valves
to limit the strength of the resistance for swing and stance. No blown
valves. They have gotten this paid through the VA in other VISNs, not
sure of yours. They may welcome the opportunity to show what this can do
for bariatric patients. The weight limit on the website says 275, so
while this is entirely outside of your typical response, I find the
concept of mechanisms other than teeny-weentsy valves interesting as we
look for better durability.
Ossur has a higher weight Mauch, but I am sure you have
already searched that option.
5. A Hosmer Durathane EXO setup with a MAUCH unit and Lots o'
lamination on it will hold just about anybody.
Best I could come up with on ENDO was a OSSUR MAUCH KNEE
PLUS which is good for #365 recently for my 360 LB Transfemoral. Had
to use a Ossur foot as well. I also used a 50 CM MEDI 4Seal
liner which worked very well. Patient is doing his gait training now
and making progress.
You also will need a custom foot for that weight and ossur
or freedom innovations can make one for you. I did Bilat Transtibials
on a 475+ LB a few years back- they made me custom feet. And the guy
walked pretty well with 2 canes!
6. Have you checked with Gary Bedard at Becker?
7. If they are a k3 look at Ossur's Mauch with hd frame. I
think they can special make one too.
8. I had a rather larger pt with a TF amp. I used the KX06 from
Endolite. I spoke with them. They said the knee would work... No
issues. Having a pt sign off on liability is a waste of paper. My
guy is of very similar wt and thus far had no issue. Comp build.....
Direct mount socket, KX06, and a Freedom SO HD foot. Worked
perfect.
9. Exo is all I know of
10. TI Med makes a knee rated to 500lbs. It's a 4 bar knee with manual
locking capabilities.
11. I expect you will need to fabricate an exoskeletal system.
12. Ossur makes a heavy duty Mauch knee
I thank all of you for helping me and the quick response I got.
