Good afternoon
Question for the panel, I find myself in need of guidance. We've
recently billed out to Medicare for a Crow orthoses L4631 with ICD-9
codes 255.02, 356.9, 824.4 and 733.82. We were denied and deemed
medically unnecessary. It was my understanding that Medicare
beneficiaries are eligible for a Crow Orthoses L4631 under these
conditions.
1- Diabetic type II
2- Perpherial neuropathy
3- Severe deformity of the foot and ankle due to a sensory neuropathic
arthropathy
Which ICD-9 codes support medical necessity for L4631? The LCD includes
only 713.5 ARTHROPATHY ASSOCIATED WITH NEUROLOGICAL DISORDERS and is
there a specific order ?
All the best
