Hi everybody,

I'd like some advice on knee bracing recommendations. Patient is a 31 year old overweight female, mother of two young children, whose husband is active military and often deployed. Previously very active, she was recently diagnosed with Ehler Danlos Syndrome after waking up with massively swollen and painful knees. This diagnosis came after a variety of tests; her cousin and aunt also have it. Since then, the swelling comes and goes, she has difficulty lifting the leg or moving the foot through range willingly (the range is there; the ability is often not), and both patellae (left worse than right) dislocate easily at all points of range of motion. She has worn bilateral patella stabilizing/tracking orthoses without much success. The left leg will sometimes wrench as the patella dislocates laterally and give out, causing her to fall often.

Thoughts on bracing those knees?

I'm out of the office tomorrow but would love to see some suggestions when I get back on Monday!

Thanks!
