ORIGINAL POST:

This female patient is 5'1 and 255 lbs. measuring 57 inches circumference.
She rejects the LSOs I tried on her and wants a thinner support, perhaps a
strong elastic material. Is anyone aware of such a support that might fit
either prefab or custom?

Please steer me towards a manufacturer who might be able to work with me on
this.

RESPONSES: (first half)

Try Model #201130 CSUS xxL from Allard

You never mentioned what you are trying to control, other then a large
abdomen.

Seems an LSO corset would fit the bill. Due to short height may need to
have it custom made, though if you have sewing machine you should be able to
modify a stock garment (then charge like custom). Freeman and Truform (SAI)
used to provide this custom service, or in CA you may find a corseteer
locally, look for custom women's foundations and, although not usually
considered, high-end S&M shops.

Whatever you finally fit it is imperative the patient be instructed to
always position and tighten the garment in a supine position with hips and
knees flexed to 90. Only in this position can they capture the pendulous
abdomen. I always found this was the hardest concept to teach, they would
return complaining the garment doesn't work, but when asked to don they do
so standing.

I've tried a Trulife Platinum Pendulous Support LSO on a similar patient,
and it worked well. She might fit in a XXXL PT134.

Try FREEMAN MFG.... They have made custom items for my patients that fit
great. However, it can be slow getting to you....Freeman LSO corsets for
pendulous abdomens go that big. They might have a product that is pre-fab or
custom that might work. Here is a link to their website.

amazon sells them, which I linked to below, but you should be able to get
them from the Freeman print catalogue.

We have found PROFESSIONAL PRODUCTS in Florida is very amendable to
fabricating most items in their catalog (binders) to your custom
measurements. Also, AMERICAN ORTHOPEDIC SUPPLY in Alabama does the same. Of
course these are east coast options, but that is what we do here. Also look
at California Midprofile LSOs. They size up large

CMO makes the bariatric support plus that goes up to 80 so 57 is a piece
of cake.

Look at the Med Spec Back-n-black. It is a warm-n-form with an anterior
panel. It is pdac approved

There is a company in germany called Werkmeister , that's a great company .

They can make anything ( i know because i work often with them )they also
sell all types of fabric for making belts or lso's.

We have used the Miami lumbar support from ossur. They make a 6xl that is
trimmable. They actually make a regular and slim version. It is relatively
soft. The belt alone is an L0626.

Maybe a custom elastic binder, or even a maternity or industrial belt? Its
been awhile since I've done a custom binder but there used to be a company
in Ohio that made them. American Orthopedic Appliance (AOA) I think...
