Good afternoon colleagues,
Researchers at the University of Washington are seeking people with bilateral, lower limb amputation to participate in a new research study. Last year, we developed the Prosthetic Limb Users Survey of Mobility (PLUS-M), a tool to help clinicians and researchers better understand the experience of using lower limb prostheses. This measure, originally designed for people with unilateral amputation, is now being tested among bilateral prosthetic limb users. We are asking your help to spread the word about this study.
We are looking for people who are:
* 18 years or older
* able to read and understand English
* have amputations in both legs and use lower limb prostheses
* have no other (e.g., arm) amputations
Participation in this study involves completing an online or paper survey and is entirely voluntary. Eligible participants will be paid $25 upon completion of the survey.
Please encourage your patients with bilateral leg amputations to visit www.MobilitySurvey.org to see if this study is right for them. They can also contact our research staff for information (or to request a paper version of the survey) at (800) 504-0564 or <Email Address Redacted>
We can also send you IRB-approved posters, flyers, and cards to display in your clinic and share with your patients. These materials are available free of charge. Please let me know if we can send you these materials by emailing us at <Email Address Redacted>
Sincerely,
Brian Hafner, PhD, Principal Investigator
