I have had several responses, so thank you all for that. Some people wanted
to know what I learned.

 

The general consensus seems to be that vent hoods are obsolete. The best
solution is a dedicated room with lower than atmospheric pressure and a
downdraft ventilation system so the fumes are not drawn up toward the
worker's face. Enlist the help of a local, reputable HVAC company. While
the FDA does not have ventilation specifications, they do care about your
policies and procedures regarding the use and maintenance of your
ventilation equipment. Your local jurisdiction may have regulations about
whether you can direct vent to the outside or whether you have to use a
filter.

 

There were some non-specific references to OSHA (work place safety) and EPA
(exhausting noxious fumes) for their regulations. We need to pay attention
to the VOCs and noxious fumes. The EPA has a scary list here:

Others said use a C-Fab!
