List,
Does anyone out there have or know of a study that shows the effectiveness
of stump shrinkers used immediately post-operatively on vascular or diabetic
amputees. I've worked with surgeons that have had differences in opinions
on this. Some want it, some do not. Clinically I have found them not to a
be a problem, and in most cases speed up the healing process by reducing the
swelling quickly and more importantly at the least keeping the limb from
swelling more. I've also found that it reduces drainage from the incision
site, and many times reduces pain for the patient.
Any references, articles, or ideas here would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
