Dear subscribers,
The use of Targeted Muscle Re-innervation surgery is an exciting new horizon mostly in upper limb prosthetic control. In keeping myself up to date with progress I have heard anecdotally by those in the know that a beneficial side effect is relief/reduction of neuropathic pain. As part of the same conversations, I have also been told that (for non TMR patients) persistent re-occurring neuroma formation can be treated by burying the nerve end in adjacent bone after the neuroma has been removed.
I wonder if anyone out there is in a position to verify either of those statements. I will summarise responses on the list server.
Many thanks for your time.
