Inquiry:
270 lb. active hip disarticulation patient. Needing options for hip joint. Every one I've seen has a weight limit up to 220 lbs. Otto Bock does have a new one out with a weight limit of 275 lbs, which would fit the bill, but I just want to see what other options there are, if any.
Responses:
--Dycor manufactures the Roller Track hip that might be custom made to your
specifications.
--Try contacting Bob at Bulldog. I know he's building 4 custom hip joints at the moment. I'm not sure of the exact weight rating but it would cover 270. One of them is for a patient of ours over 300lbs.
--We have the same issue for a 273 lb patient. The new joint from Otto Bock does have to be shipped directly from Germany and we have had one on order for a couple of weeks (4 week estimated wait). Prior to the release to the U. S. of this particular joint, our only option was a custom, one of a kind, hip joint that would be fabbed by Bulldog - and would be basically a beefed up 7E7 (12 week estimated fabrication time). Byron Backus from Bock had suggested Bulldog as the only option this summer during our initial search. Apparently the Bock joint has just been released but is not stocked in the states yet.
