Hello List,
I have been trying to find any studies and/or research articles about the useful lifetime of a lower limb prosthesis maybe with a correlation with activity, and was wondering if anyone has any data on this that could help me.
I have a patient who is an active k3-k4 above knee amputee whose prosthesis is not just more than 5 years old now, but also his increase in activity level is necessitating the use of a better knee and foot for improved performance. His insurance (workman's comp) is arguing that he should be able to use his old leg for 'at least' 10 years. I already have detailed physician notes, a separate CMN for the new knee and a detailed rx with justifications as far as paperwork goes. I was just hoping to back it up with some study articles.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
