I wanted to say thanks in advance for those helping send over info
regarding audits, and physician documentation.
I have an appointment tomorrow with Senator Burr's office and hope to
convince them to let me meet him face to face. I will try to do the same
with Senator Kay Hagan (these meetings are never easy to get!). When I get
a date for the meetings I would like to invite any O&P business
owners/managers in NC that can spare the time to come with me. I think it
would make a difference. Email me if you are interested in coming to the
face to face meetings.
The sooner we make some headway on this issue the sooner we can all get
back to what we love doing - helping people and becoming a little better
practitioner each day!
Perhaps one of the saddest things that has happened since Aug 2011 is that
the list serve has changed. Previous to that time the majority of posts
were about ways to help difficult patients or other clinical or technical
questions related to patient care. Now it would seem the list is consumed
by concerned practitioners regrading the audits. Without the warning voices
raised by colleagues I would probably not be willing to invest the time to
meet with senators so I think the posts are justified and important. I am
just saying patient care will suffer as a result if something is not done
about the current audit/documentation situation and the list serve is one
small example of where clinicians time and concerns are being spent rather
than in research or education or patient care.
