I have a question for for anyone who has made the MAS socket design, I have a patient (Hospital Administrator), he has been a patient of mine for 25+ yrs, he is 66 yrs and lost his leg at the age of 16, he has a short flabby suction socket AK and wears a Rheo.. 2 months ago we changed his old socket, do to substantial weight loss. I made him a MAS design, (he and I had been playing with this change for a year, back and forth) he wore it quite well and was comfortable.
Monday, he went to the hospital after calling 911, and it was discovered he had a substantial number of DVT's in his lungs and 3 in his stump. His Cardiologist seems to think this may be from a recent change in socket design, but has no basis for the assumption. Has anybody ever heard of anything like this?
