Joy & Rapture..

I am putting together verbiage for justification. Please suggest
improvements, corrections, or additional description for this non-addressed
criteria.

L5665 and L5670, when used together, combine to provide critical stability
for laxity of the knee joint by limiting Medio/lateral deviation. This
deviation can be caused by damage to, or weakening of, the ligaments of the
knee or by an extremely short below knee amputation which results in the
abductor muscles overpowering the adductor muscles. The adductors have a
lower insertion point on the skeletal system and, in a short amputation, are
no longer attached. The use of an insert with a supracondylar wedge, as in
Patellar Suspension, allows the patient to don and doff the prosthesis
without severe pain to the medial condyle. Equally important, the
combination provides a mechanical force coupling that stabilizes the knee,
provides protection from further deterioration of the said joint, limits
movement caused by laxity and thereby reducing sheer forces on the tissue of
the remaining limb, and allows significantly improved leverage within the
prosthesis in order to allow the amputee to maximize prosthetic
rehabilitation.

The use of L5683, cushion liner, would also be indicated if the tissue of
the residual limb presents a propensity for breakdown and ulceration,
particularly on the fibula head. This would be a selection that a certified
prosthetist would understand and provide in order to competently and
effectively manage a patient's care plan.

Thanks for your kind attention and assistance.
