I attended a class given by Randall Alley from Biodesigns, Inc, on the background and benefits of the HiFi interface. It was the first time that I questioned my retirement. This interface make fitting the Transfemoral, AK, sockets actually work. It improved the suspension, circulation, and most importantly actually comes as close as possible to having the maximum connection of femur motion and resultant socket motion. It is as close to Osseointegration as anything I used in practice or have seen. It allows the proximal brim to be sub-ischial, which improves the involved hip range of motion. It improves the outcome of all of the components and makes them feel lighter. It seems to improve comfort for the amputee and reduces energy consumption. I could not see fitting a Transfemoral patient without this technique, if I was truly interested in the patient's outcome. My congratulation to Randy and his staff for giving our profession and Transfemoral Amputees some optimism for their future. <URL Redacted>
