I was wondering if anyone had had any experience using a 60hz vacuum pump on a 50 hz line.
A US 110v 60hz 1/6 HP vacuum pump was brought to us in Bolivia. We were able to get a power converter to convert the Bolivian 220v to 110v with what we believe is sufficient power but the transformer starts to smoke and the vacuum keeps cutting out. I am not sure if this is caused by the motor trying to run on the lower frequency or simply due to insufficient watts being put out by the transformer. I have search a lot on line and I am getting conflicting information in general about 60hz motors.
Does anyone had direct experience with this situation?
Thanks
