Dear Listmembers:
My apologies for the delayed reply response. Perhaps Mitch Ratcliffe was right when he famously said, A computer lets you make more mistakes faster than any invention in human history - with the possible exceptions of handguns and tequila.
Computer challenges aside here is my original inquiry:
I am writing to ask for your opinions regarding flexible inner sockets for the Tf amputation level. More specifically, does anyone know of a thermoplastic that is softer/more flexible than Bioelastic but slightly more stiff/less flexible than Otto Bock's PUR or Thernolyn suprasoft plus silicone?
Replies:
Have you considered custom liners. Flexibility can be varied accoringly to specs.
You can get Sea-flex in 100, 200, and 300 durometers. I've not used the300-it might be like thermolyn stiff. The 100 is similar to the Suprasoft,so the 200 might be what you want. It seems softer to me than the Northvane we typically use.
Orfitrans Extra Soft with Silicone.
Proflex with silicone.
I would recommend trying the Streifeneder ortho.production: Masterflex CLEAR (5-ST-111P62/size) It is available in 9-12 & 14mm. The nice part about this plastic is that it will not absorb oils--> so yellowing will not occur. And because the material is NON-Absorbing, it will not get heavy or warp as some inner socket industrial materials tend to do.
Many thanks to all who responded.
Kind regards,
J. Reynik, LPO
