Hi.
I have 2 BK patients who have serious swelling issues. I just saw one
yesterday that claims that he has been wearing his Shrinker all the time.
Initially he shrunk down to where my first test socket needed 5 ply of
socks to feel comfortable. However, yesterday I saw him and his limb has
ballooned. His wife said that he fell a few days ago. My other patient is
similar. He is not a new amputee but recently went through a lot of
shrinkage very quickly and needs a new socket. However, he recently went
to the hospital and his doc ordered him off of his leg. It is now too
large to fit into his original socket and he is STILL not allowed to walk
on it until his distal tibia heals (he has a wound there). Do I need to
cast these patients when they are swollen and make them new sockets when
they shrink down? Can anyone think of a better solution than that? In the
edge I just saw two products: Revolimb with BOA adjustment dial and Unity
Sleeveless Vacuum (one patient already has a flexfoot, needs new liners
anyway, and he will destroy any sleeve that I give to him). Does anyone
here have experience with those products? Might they help my patients out?
Thanks.
