I would like to warn all facilities in licensure
Hello again all,
I would like to warn all facilities in licensure states about all that is happening in Texas, it may well be visiting you soon.
Our law exempts Physicians, PT, OT, Chiropracters, Pharmacists, Podiatrists and perhaps more. The catch is the physician is exempt, not his staff. They have received a few letters regarding our law, which protects licensed pesronnel from the encroachment of other professions. Physicians cannot designate responsibility. We have formally complained. They get the jist. They just need to change the law. They make a nice return on prescribing and providing, especially if it's that nice SuperOrthoProducts rep. They don't even need to pay a salary and in many places the rep can pay rent for the space to measure patients. That is a pretty sweet deal to lose.
I sincerely believe the reps come down on the side of the docs in this legislation. They know they burned a few bridges as they walked over us, and need these relationships. I wonder where AOPA stands in this?
If you do not have a lobbyist for your state organization, you should seriously consider it. They keep an eye out for this kind of legislation and know how to fight it. We need to stand up!
Thanks Paul.
