Hello all,

I had several requests for the response to this question 'Can anyone suggest a supplier for a vacuum hand pump for elevated vacuum? Preferably from a prosthetic provider.'

Thanks to all who replied, here are the responses:

These work great, and they are very affordable.

Evolution Industries makes a simple easy to use hand pump that has worked well for me and patients. www.evoii.com

I'm not familiar with a pump from an O&P supplier but any auto parts store should carry hand pumps for hydraulic bleeding...they work fairly well and their priced inexpensively.

I personally use a Handheld Food saver pump. It is $20 and rechargeable.

Try amazon

Evolution industries.

Duncan, you can buy a pump for about $40.00 at Auto Zone or most any
auto parts store. It is a brake bleeder pump and they are a light
colored grey plastic. I've used many of them in the past and they work well.

You can get them from Evolution I believe, but we get them from the local Harbor Freight Tools for much much cheaper.

We use a break bleeder from the local auto parts store. We have not been able to find a prosthetic supplier as of yet since evolution industries stopped selling them.

Harbor freight brake bleeder hand pump

i believe evolution industries in florida carries them. www.evoii.com

Yes the man in Florida who does the Evolution Liners has a hand pump his patients can use to create vacumm pressures.

Your best bet is from a local auto parts store, although this is not a prosthetic supplier. They are used for bleeding brakes, etc.

The pump that you're looking for is an automotive air conditioning evacuation pump. Any decent auto a/c parts store will have it.... and at a greatly reduced price from the prosthetic suppliers. It's used to purge any air (which contains moisture) from the a/c system.

Regarding hand vacuum pumps. I get them at the local auto supply store. I
like using those, because it is convenient for the patient to replace, they
are low cost and have built in gauges. I have gotten heavier duty ones at
Sears, but not lately.

Brake line bleeder can be found at a local auto parts supply house and run around 20.00 good luck

The auto parts store has a Brake Bleeder pump that works well for about $9.95.

Hmmm... You could use Aircast walker pumps.

Your best source is an automotive vacuum pump. Commonly used to bleed brakes. You can find them at most auto parts stores. They are small enough to fit in a purse and fairly inexpensive.
