Hello Colleagues,
I have a patient who is a 4cm long transtibial amputee who presents and has been successfully fitted as a KD level amputee. We are investigating different knee and foot options for him. The Total knee, I feel, is a good option for him due to it's low overall clearance and low clearance when sitting with knee flexed. It also reduces functional toe length during swing because of it's 4-bar design. However, we have had some issues with instability on uneven terrain. This patient lives on and manages an acreage and would likely benefit from an adaptive ankle / foot mechanism, like the Proprio, Echelon, Motion foot, etc.
Any thoughts on using any of these feet in combination with the Total Knee. I realize the Total Knee is only secure in stance if alignment is properly set. Alternatively, any thoughts on knees similar to Total Knee with a locking function?
Your feedback is always greatly appreciated.
