Dear List,
Here is a list of responses to my post regarding VALOR Sock Sizing. I have
left out names.
Thanks to all who responded and look forward to many more.
The most common feedback received verbally was that the sock looks like it
will not fit but once tried on a patient they have had very positive
feedback.
- I have found that anyone we fit with the sock under a liner
REALLY loved the sock.
- Fit the sock patient did not notice a change in the amount of
sweat in his socket. Patient wore it at work for 12 hour shifts working in
factory. He reported ringing it out a couple of time a shift but limb still
stayed wet.
- I have fit the Valor sock successfully on male adults. I have
not tried it on a larger limb, but have fit on mature, average sizes. Great
feedback from my patients so far.
- That sock looks interesting - Do they have anything for a CROW
boot? I have a couple of patients who are going to be desperate this
summer!
- Ever try a product and wonder what the heck everyone is talking
about? I have practitioner friends that love this sock. I wasn't
impressed. The only thing different that I can tell about the Valor sock
from any other sock you'd put under a liner is that it's a compression sock.
If you need a compression sock under a compressive liner to fit in a
compressive socket then I guess this would be the sock to stock. I can't
fathom why you'd need such on a regular basis.
The socks are narrow, hard to put on (=compression). I don't see
that they hold any more moisture than any knit-rite product. It's thicker
than a Liner Liner but you could use a one ply cuddly soft sock. Is
Polypropylene better than Cool Max? No idea but I can't tell the
difference.
I even got a pair of their socks to wear myself so I could understand
the material. My impression was pretty much the same as what was reported
above. Would I purchase another pair for myself? No.
- I tried the sock you sent and love it for my personal purposes.
It fits me perfectly but if someone had more bulk on their leg it may be too
tight.
