Below is original request, followed by replies. Lots of replies for CHECK
from Allard, and I won't include all of them. Thank to all.

Looking for your favourite knee orthoses to control hyperextension. Ideally
off the shelf to keep the cost down (but will consider all replies), for
200lb female.

I have successfully used the custom Townsend Post-Polio KO for
hyperextension due to another diagnosis. It worked well and the patient
loved it.

------------------

--- Allard' CHECK KO is very effective for the right presentation. Low
profile and lightweight. I get the SS and contour the uprights (the AL
modal has failed). I tend to use it on people without redundant tissue as
it doesn't have padded uprights. Found it good for presentations like FSH
MD or post CVA. The strapping can be tricky for people with upper
involvement & no assistance.

Swedish knee cage w hinges. Cascade.

I have used the Polio KO from Townsend with very good success. Pt was
larger active male with aggressive recurvatum and he has had no issues with
it. Only thing is it is custom.

Personally I like to make this custom molded and I use the Becker adjustable
dial lock which allows me to change the angle of extension stop into more
flexion or less flexion and I add a strap and opposite side buckle into the
screw that holds the plate on the joint. Works well for us due to a strong
three point pressure system with the ability to be able to change the angle
if needed. I use a pad on that strap similar to a swedish knee cage pad. I
like to use carbon fiber as the brace then simply looks like a sports knee
brace, but plastic works well also.

C.H.E.C.K. Knee orthosis from Allard-USA.

Trace the leg like a KAFO and pre-contour the uprights and set the knee M-L
to the before the fitting appointment. You may need to lengthen the straps
for her thigh section.

KAFO, offset knee joints. Distal migration will be a problem in any other
design, more than likely
