The Academy Webinar Series
LIVE WEBINAR
Wednesday, April 10, 2013, 12:00 - 1:00 PM ET
Achieving Femoral Stabilization Using Osseosynchronization Interface Design
Randall Alley, BSc, CP, LP
Osseosynchronization is a method of prosthetic connectivity whereby the actions or motions of the prosthetic interface and attached components act in unison with the underlying bone. The result is dramatically enhanced performance, energy efficiency, comfort, and confidence that enables amputees of all activity levels to do more. The webinar will cover history, biomechanical principles, and examples of osseosynchronization interfaces.
Randall Alley, BSc, CP, is CEO and chief prosthetist for biodesigns in Southern California. He is the creator of the High-Fidelity Interface with patented HiFi technology, the XFrame, and ACCI-three interfaces that brought advanced biomechanical principles to socket design. He conceived and helped develop Ottobock's patented PushValve and MagValve for suction sockets and assisted in the development of TRS's BAHA and Sure-Lok. Alley co-developed and directed Hanger's Upper Limb Prosthetic Program and was the main interface consultant working with DEKA Research on DARPA's Revolutionizing Prosthetics Project. Alley has contributed to five upper limb textbooks, received a Certificate of Appreciation from the US Army, and was awarded the Clinical Creativity Award from the Academy.
