Once again this spring the Academy Mentoring Program, facilitated by the
Student Resident Committee of the American Academy of Orthotists and
Prosthetists, is seeking participants. This program pairs mentors with
protégés for mutual clinical, professional, and personal development. Over
the last five years, Academy members have benefited from this program as an
opportunity to exchange ideas and network with others in the field of
Orthotics and Prosthetics. If you haven’t yet tried it, make 2013 the year
you do!
The program is open to all Academy members. Members may participate as a
junior protégé, a senior protégé, or a mentor. A junior protégé is a
student or a resident. A senior protégé is a resident or practitioner with
fewer than three years of experience. Senior protégés participate as both a
protégé to an experienced clinician and a mentor to a student. A mentor is
a practitioner with at least three years of experience. Mentors may be
connected with up to two protégés.
Participation in this annual program will involve monthly contact between
mentor and protégé(s) via email or telephone. A reminder e-mail will be
sent each month with a suggested discussion topic to facilitate
conversation. It is highly encouraged that participants communicate monthly
at minimum to maximize the benefits of the mentoring relationship.
If you are interested in participating, please fill out the sign up form
via the link below and return it to Kimber Nation via e-mail at
<Email Address Redacted> or via fax at (202) 380-3447:

*Enrollment has been extended to April 1, 2013*. Participants will be
paired and introduced via email in early April.
More information about the Mentoring Program may be found by visiting the
Academy’s website (www.oandp.org) and clicking on the “Student Resident
Committee” link under the “Membership” Tab.
Thank you for your participation!
