Shoulder Disarticulation Compliant Force Distribution Interface Jay Martin, CP, LP, FAAOP
Learn how to cast, fabricate, and fit this new shoulder-level socket design. Discuss how to minimize point pressures by using compliant fabric to distribute forces within various socket designs. Explore various case study fittings of both shoulder disarticulation and hemipelvectomy levels. Learn the design modifications necessary to fit bilateral patients.
Jay Martin, CP, LP, FAAOP, is a clinical and research prosthetist, inventor, and entrepreneur who specializes in reshaping the future of advanced orthotics and prosthetics. His innovative designs and patents have centered on adaptive computer-controlled prosthetics, neural integration strategies, advanced man/machine interface designs, and nanotechnology applications in O&P. He has successfully commercially launched and licensed many of his advanced prosthetic designs.
As an entrepreneur, Martin launched several successful companies based on his inventions, including what became the largest prosthetic research and development company in the nation. This has given him a unique perspective and understanding of the clinical, engineering, and business sides of the prosthetic field. His goal is to give 100 percent functionality back to those with limb loss.
