Hello All,

(I hope this is easier to read....I will NEVER use my Hotmail account again
to send emails...I will use Windows Live Mail)

We have finally gotten the cover letter written and posted on the website
www.op-repository.org and I have also attached it here on this email.

Wil Haines and I put this together, and hopefully has the most important
pieces of the White Paper highlighted and will encourage theem to read the
entire document and become aware of the problems and issues that we are all
dealing with and fighting.

We have had a lot of people respond back with names of their representatives
and senators who they are sending the letter to.

I have already sent an electronic version to my congressman. He is on the
House Ways and Means Committee and is very interested in what I have been
telling him about this issue with Medicare, the pre-payment audits, and RAC
audits, etc. I have expressed to him how unfare these audits are, and what
they are REALLY doing with these audits. I have expressed to him that I
agree that Medicare must crack down on the REAL fruad and abuse, but what
they are doing today is far from accomplishing that goal. What is happening
is the contractors are finding issues, like Signature Attestation forms
are not being submitted, but they have never mentioned that these are
required to submit for doctors. Personally, when we have the referring
physician's NPI on the claim, and submit notes from his office, with his/her
signature, I would think that Medicare must have this physician's signature
on file somewhere. AND also MY signature is on many of the pages, along
with my printed/typed name below it. But they have denied the claim due to
this signature page. So to correct this, I have to sign a Signature
Attestation, using my signature to validate that the signature on my forms
is MY signature. IF they really were concerned about an authenticated
signature, wouldn't they require a notary public to verify my signature,
that I am indeed singing some form, and the notary is a witness to my
siganture and that it is really me signing it? To me, this is just another
way for them to find how to NOT pay for a prosthetic leg which is totally
necessary and justified in every way.

We are trying to gather a list of EVERY congressman who is receiving this
packet, either electronically or by certified mail. Please email me with
the name and district of the congressman you are sending this to. Also, we
are gathering a list of Senators who have also been sent this packet with
the White Paper.

In a week or 2, I will post to the list the names of ALL the Congressmen and
Senators who are being included in this effort to educate them on what is
going on with Medicare and these audits, which will also show them that
these contractors are acting in a manner that is not legal, and also totally
unethical in what they are doing.

Thanks,

Jim DeWees, CP
