Greetings list!
I wanted to ask the community to consider helping research by donating old
components, specifically ESAR type feet. I will always strongly advocate
for donations to clinics in third world countries that can possibly benefit
from old/used components, but perhaps 1 or 2 of the prosthetic feet you
were going to send such clinics could first make a pitstop at our
biomechanics laboratory. Our research does not damage the prosthetic feet
in any way beyond adding some additional common wear and tear. I am asking
the O&P community to consider going through your shelves and finding any
ESAR type prosthetic feet that are collecting dust (even if you are more
reserved about getting rid of anything that still works, I can easily send
the foot back to you after a month or two of using it). Too often I hear so
many smaller clinic O&P practitioners excited about research in our field
but complaining that they do not know how to get involved with research;
this is your opportunity to help and it requires only sending me an email (
<Email Address Redacted> ) so we can work out the easiest way to ship the feet.
Thank you for considering!
