Hello List,
Another prime example of why we're in the mess we're in...
Diabetic shoe provider (term loosely used) fit a prosthetic pt of mine with ED shoes that fit nicely over her Arizona Boot.  pt seen for a prosthetic follow up the next day because she felt less stable in her prosthesis.  Found shoe so large on the prosthesis that the foot was slopping around & slipping out of it.  No tongue pad, no toe stuffing, no velcro closure adjustment, nothing to secure the shoe onto the prosthetic foot.  I DID find a heat molded diabetic insert though!  PLUS a heat molded insert UNDER the Arizona boot!!!  WHAT?!

I called the shoe store & spoke with the young lady who reportedly ordered the products for the pt, I didn't dispense them though... she said ...that was the new girl.  She got her manager on the phone, a C-Ped, who reports not being there when the pt was provided the shoes & inserts, but she assured me there's no way the girls knew it was a prosthetic foot.  pt uses the LimbLogic & says the girl heard the pump kick on, asked what it was & continued to heat mold inserts to the prosthetic foot.  pt also says she ...told the girl... that she received inserts inside her brace & that she doesn't need them on that foot either.  The girl just continued to heat mold inserts to plantar aspect fo the Arizona brace & told the pt that she has to get 3prs each foot with her shoes.  Obviously there is a problem here.

C-Ped was very apologetic when she called the pt to inform her that she would be getting a refund for the inserts on the prosthetic side.  pt had to remind her about the inserts provided UNDER her orthosis to get a refund for all 6prs.  REALLY?!
