Hello Colleagues and Guests,
Please make a note that oandpsolutions.org has been renamed to
op-repository.org. Another company is marketing a for-profit O&P
solution program under the name of oandpsolutions.net. We are not
affiliated with this company and do not want to cause confusion. As
such, the name change.
You can still get to our website using the old address, but in time,
this will change, so please make a note and use the op-repository.org.
The sole purpose of the repository is to provide useful information to
the O&P field regarding, in particular, Medicare and Medicaid issues,
including audits.
There has not been much activity from our end regarding this issue of
late, but I can report that not much has changed. Our office recently
participated in a couple of the recent Medicare University webinars and,
with a few minor exceptions, it is still business as usual. This means
that for the most part, we are still in a no-win situation with clinical
documentation requirements that are unrealistic and unfair for everyone
involved, except Medicare, Medicaid and their corresponding auditors.
As a side note, the CRO Walker issue was resolved by using loop Velcro
on the edges. Sanding the edges did not help and neither did a thin
Vaseline lubricant. We didn't like the idea of the Vaseline anyway, but
did try it. I have seen it work in the past, but not this time. Our
final solution was to change our fabrication procedure to include a more
rigid homopolymer posterior shell. Hopefully, this will minimize these
issues. I don't think you can predict with certainty when the squeaking
issue will appear, but I do know that it is a pain in the you-know-what
when it happens. We don't like the Velcro solution either, but at least
it worked for this particular set of bilateral devices.
