Dear List,
I was asked to see a geriatric patient with a displaced, chronic odontoid
fracture. This patient is not a surgical candidate. He demonstrates right
lateral head flexion such that his ear nearly touches his shoulder. His
deformity is much less in the morning when he is still in bed, according to
his family. The neurosurgeon wants to combine traction with a more
appropriate cervical orthosis. I am considering a non-invasive halo and
would be very interested in your input.
Thank you,
