I have a patient with high expectations on a cosmetic finish for a discontinuous AK cosmetic cover. Concerning the shaping of the socket and it flowing into the tibial foam section we have a great appearance. I have custom sprayed several legs over the years but she likes the look of the silicone skins better than anything she has had over her 20 yrs of prosthetic use. The silicone skins do a better job of showing skin texture and depth than the custom sprayed skins in my opinion.

We have been working with the Skynergy and trying to reflect it to the interior of the foam so there is no edge…as we all know, trying to get something to stick to the silicone of the Skynergy is difficult. We have consulted the manufacturer and there rec's have worked but not great.

We are able to achieve a rolled edge with a seamless look but the problem is getting the exterior of the silicone skin to adhere to the custom laminated frame we fabricated as a shell around the knee. We have tried the included adhesive the skin comes with, various silicone adhesives, urethane adhesives, medical spray adhesives, super gluing a bead around the top (didn't' expect it to work but had to try), etc….thoughts? Or is there a company who does high end finishes (besides the French crew) that we could consult with or send it to for them to complete?
